After all chatter leading up to The Ashes, Ben Stokes' England have been humbled in Perth. The visitors asked Australia to chase 205 runs in the first match of the series, but as usual, it was Australia's Travis Head who made a mockery of the chase. Before Travis Head walked in to bat in the final session of the second day, the match was being dominated by the bowlers, but Head turned the tables around.
Time and again, England have spoken a lot about making Test matches entertaining, by playing a fiery brand of cricket, but they themselves fail to find an answer and run out of answers when the opposition starts to dominate them with the bat.
Travis Head Slams Quickfire Ton
Travis Head's quality as a batter is known to everybody and once he gets going, there is no opposition or bowling attack to stop him. Something similar happened in The Ashes opener as well. The Australian southpaw opened the batting for the Aussies and the rest is history. Head, courtesy of his fiery batting, took the attack to the English pacers and scored a quickfire 100 off 69 balls. In the process, Head also became the first opener to hit four or more sixes in an Ashes Test.
The Australian southpaw hit 12 fours, four sixes and scored these runs with a strike rate of 144.93. England's Brydon Carse finally managed to dismiss Head while he was batting on 123 from 83 balls.
