India all-rounder Washington Sundar has reportedly been ruled out of the remaining ODI series following a side strain. The Indian all-rounder picked up an injury while in action during the IND vs NZ clash at the BCA Stadium.

Washington Sundar had bowled five overs during the first innings, conceding 27 runs. However, he had picked up an injury and walked off to the dressing room.

Dhruv Jurel stepped into the action as the substitute fielder, and Sundar did not return for the rest of the innings, prompting concern.

Washington Sundar Ruled Out Of New Zealand ODIs

India all-rounder Washington Sundar has been forced to withdraw from the remaining New Zealand ODIs after suffering a series-ending injury. According to Cricbuzz, the cricketer sustained a side strain during New Zealand's innings and did not come out to the field for the remainder of the innings.

Washington Sundar eventually returned to bat at number 8 while battling discomfort. He remained unbeaten as India sealed a four-wicket win over New Zealand in Vadodara.

Injury troubles have already affected Team India as wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is also ruled out of the New Zealand ODI following a fresh injury setback. Dhruv Jurel was called up as a backup wicketkeeper-batter to KL Rahul in the ODI series.

At the post-match presentation, Shubman Gill confirmed that Washington Sundar will undergo scans to understand the extent of the injury. Not many details were given by the Indian Test and ODI skipper on the situation, leaving his status in peril.

Washington Sundar's Injury Could Be a Chance For Nitish Reddy To Shine

With Washington Sundar reportedly out of the ODI series, India has a newfound dilemma at hand. Sundar stands out as a decent option at number seven, and his absence may have a significant impact.
