ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Expectations were sky-high from Virat Kohli as he was coming into the game against New Zealand on the back of a hundred vs Pakistan.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Everytime Virat Kohli walks out to bat, the expectations are high. On Sunday when India took on New Zealand in a Champions Trophy 2025 game in Dubai, the expectations were high on Kohli also because it was his 300th ODI game, a massive feat in itself. Kohli became only the seventh Indian cricketer to play 300 ODIs or more. He strolled into bat after Shubman Gill perished early. Kohli seemed to be in good touch, but only till the 14th ball he played.
Kohli perished for 11 off 14 balls. But it was the catch that stole the show. It was a one-handed screamer from Glenn Phillips, who was stationed at backward point. Kohli cut the ball hard and it seemed it is headed to the ropes, but it found Phillips on it's way, who had other ideas. It was a full-length dive from Phillips with outstretched hands that did the trick.

Anushka GOBSMACKED
Actress Anushka Sharma, who is at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, was shell-shocked after Kohli was dismissed. The cameras panned towards her straight after the catch was taken. Here reaction summed up the feeling of the fans perfectly. This is the first CT 2025 match Anushka is attending.
She has not been travelling with the team after the new rule of the BCCI. Surely, it was a heartbreaking moment for her. She has been the biggest fan of Kohli and hence one would feel for her. She would have been hoping for a repeat of the Pakistan annihilation, but that did not happen.
At the time of filing the copy, India are reeling having lost three crucial wickets. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel are in the middle and they have a job at hand to get the innings on track.
