Champions Trophy 2025: Ahead of India vs New Zealand summit clash, the Blackcaps have suffered a major roadblock as pacer Matt Henry's availability for the summit clash has become doubtful. The in-form Kiwi pacer, who emerged as a major problem for the Rohit Shrama-led Team India in their previous encounter, has suffered a niggle on his shoulder. The 33-year-old landed shoulder first when he was in action against South Africa in the semifinal. However, NZ coach Gary Stead believes Henry will recover in time for the clash on Sunday.

Matt Henry Rendered Doubtful For IND vs NZ Champions Trophy Final Clash

New Zealand dethroned South Africa's high-flying hopes after defeating them by 50 runs in the second semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy. The Rohit Sharma -led Men in Blue, who have already secured a spot in the final after defeating Australia, will face the Mitchell-Santner-led Blackcaps on Sunday. Expect an electrifying encounter, as the Blackcaps lost to India in their previous group-stage A clash at the Dubai International Stadium in the UAE. But ahead of the summit clash, the NZ Camp has encountered a big problem after one of their top pacers, Matt Henry, has been considered doubtful for the high-stakes competition.

"Matt obviously landed on his shoulder and it was pretty uncomfortable. I guess the positive thing from our perspective is that he got back out there to bowl. We've had some scans done on him.

"We're going to give him every chance to be playing in this match, so still a little bit unknown at this stage. He's obviously pretty sore just from landing on the point of his shoulder, but yeah, hopefully, he will be okay," Stead said while speaking to the reporters on Friday.

Matt Henry had the best numbers for New Zealand in the game. The 33-year-old secured a fifer against the Rohit Sharma-led side and conceded 42 runs in his over stint. Henry's inclusion could benefit the Blackcaps, as he could be a major problem to India in the summit clash.

The WTC 2021 Final will be revisited, but it will be in the white ball format as New Zealand has set a date with the Rohit Sharma-led Team India on March 06, 2025, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
