ICC Champions Trophy 2025: It was heartbreak for not just Australia, but hosts Pakistan as well, when India won the first semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday. Virat Kohli came up with a masterclass just to stamp his authority once again in world cricket. Kohli's 84 off 98 balls helped India gun down 264. But, India's win broke hearts in Pakistan as it was confirmed that Dubai would be hosting the finale and not the original hosts.

VAUGHAN'S VIRAL TWEET

While the world started roasting Pakistan, former English captain Michael Vaughan also mocked Pakistan. In a tweet Vaughan did after India won, he wrote: “Dubai has hosted the #ChampionsTrophy brilliantly ..” he tweeted on X. His tweet was followed by a couple of ‘winking face with tongue’ emojis.

India beat Australia by four wickets. It was a comfortable victory in the end for the Men in Blue. As expected, Kohli was the Player of the Match. At the post-match presentation, Kohli explained how he contructed the innings. He also compared it to the knock he played against arch-rivals Pakistan.

‘Understanding the conditions and preparing my game’ - Kohli

"It was pretty similar to the other day against Pakistan as well. For me it is about understanding the conditions and preparing my game accordingly.. just rotating strike because partnerships on this pitch are the most important thing. My only effort that day and today was to string in enough partnerships. The time that I got out, the plan was to get 20 more and try and finish it off in a couple of overs. Usually that's the template I follow but sometimes you can't execute things how you want to. It's all dependant on the conditions, the pitch tells me how the cricket needs to be played and then I just switch on and play accordingly," Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
