IND vs NZ: Rohit Sharma's Team India has stamped its domination on world cricket. India defeated New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. Rohit Sharma is now the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to win the coveted silverware. There were multiple rumours that Rohit might retire from the ODIs after India win the Champions Trophy, but the Indian captain has made this clear that he has no intentions of walking away from the fifty over format at this very moment. The 2027 edition of the ODI World Cup is still two and a half years from now and it will be interesting to see if Rohit Sharma stays on till then.

Drought Ends In Desert For Team India

India's 12-year-long wait of winning the Champions Trophy has finally come to an end. The 'Men in Blue' won a Champions Trophy last time in 2013 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were part of the squad that had won the coveted silverware in England. Interestingly, India's third Champions Trophy win came in Dubai, a city that witnessed India's shocking exit from the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup.

During the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup, the Indian team was going through a very tough phase. There were rumours of rifts in the Indian dressing room and Rohit Sharma was about to take on leadership duties from Virat Kohli. India were defeated by Pakistan and New Zealand in the group stage which led to their elimination from the tournament. But this time around, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and led India to their second Champions Trophy win.

Rohit Sharma Scripts History In Dubai

Rohit Sharma is the only Indian captain to win two trophies undefeated. Skipper Sharma had led India to an undefeated World T20 win in 2024 and he has now won the Champions Trophy too in the same fashion.
