Team India emerged as the champions of the ICC Champions Trophy after they defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to become the winner of the summit clash.
IND vs NZ Final, Champions Trophy 2025: Team India emerged as the champions of the ICC Champions Trophy after they defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to become the winner of the summit clash. This is the team's second consecutive ICC title after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup win in Barbados. Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs for the side.
India Win Third Champions Trophy Title, Jadeja Scores The Winning Runs
Team India opener Rohit Sharma delivered a captain's knock for the side as he scored an 83-ball 76 to help the Men in Blue gain some initial momentum. He formed a clinical partnership with vice-captain Shubman Gill, who scored a 50-ball 31 before he lost his wicket. While the KohliMania failed to prosper as Virat Kohli fell at just one run, Iyer played a clinical 48-run knock, and Axar Patel scored 29 against the formidable NZ spin army. Skipper Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell derailed some of India's momentum in the game after they took two wickets each. But in the end, India remained undefeated and are now the undisputed champions.
New Zealand Failed To Gain Early Momentum, India's Spin Unit Struck On Time
New Zealand got off to a soaring start, with openers Will Young and Rachin Ravindra scoring crucial shots. But it didn't last long, as spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav dismissed the openers, giving India a break. Veteran Kane Williamson was also dismissed for 11 runs, and the Kiwis appeared in grave danger. However, Daryl Mitchell orchestrated a rescue effort to shore up New Zealand's momentum and formed brief partnerships to assist the team as they appeared to be far from a good score in the game. Ravindra Jadeja took care of Tom Latham, trapping him and dismissing him with an LBW. Varun's spectacular delivery uprooted the stumps and dismissed Glenn Phillips as well.
Varun Chakaravarthy comes in clutch as Team India limits New Zealand to 251 runs in the Champions Trophy final. The India spin quartet helped the team tremendously, and the team's gamble to introduce the spinners early paid off handsomely. Chakaravarthy took the first wicket, and it changed the game as New Zealand struggled to score runs in the high-stakes match.
