IPL auction date and venue confirmed

In a recent communication to the IPL franchises, the BCCI has announced an extension of the deadline for releasing the lists of retained players to November 26. This change grants teams more time compared to the initial deadline of November 15. Notably, the IPL 2024 auction coincides with the India vs. South Africa 2nd ODI at St George's Park in Gqeberha.

For the upcoming IPL season, the 10 teams will operate under a salary cap of INR 100 crore. This season represents the final year of the three-year player contracts, with a mega auction planned for the following year.

The choice of the Coca-Cola Arena as the auction venue is strategic, given its reputation for hosting high-profile events, including concerts and various sporting spectacles in bustling Dubai. While the IPL trade window has been open for some time, activity has been relatively limited.

Nevertheless, it is anticipated that teams will release underperforming and high-salaried players by the extended deadline of November 26.
