PCB Rep IGNORED by ICC During Champions Trophy 2025 Ceremony; Wasim Akram SHOCKED
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Was there a Pakistan representative from the PCB during the trophy ceremony in Dubai?
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has already expressed his disappointment over zero participation from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during the trophy ceremony on Sunday in Dubai. Pakistan are the official hosts of CT 2025 and hence it was expected that at least one representative would be there. Now, we come to know that there was a PCB representative in Dubai on Sunday but was brutally ignored by the ICC.
According to a report in the PTI, a source confirmed that PCB's chief executive officer, Sumair Ahmed, who was also the tournament director, was present at the Dubai International Stadium for the CT 2025 final between India and New Zealand but was not invited to the ceremony.
‘PCB CEO was sent to represent Pakistan’
"PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi didn't go to Dubai because of prior commitments as federal minister for interior, but the PCB CEO was sent to represent Pakistan at the final and closing presentation," the source said.
The source went onto claim that he reckoned it was a misunderstanding on the ICC's behalf that led to the PCB official being ignored.
'Why weren't they on stage?' - Akram FUMES
"We were the host, weren't we right? How come even the COO of PCB or whoever it may be who was representing Chairman Saab, why weren't they on stage? Were they not invited? I don't know what is the story," former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram said on popular cricket show 'Dressing Room'.
Meanwhile, a Rohit Sharma -led team India went onto clinch the CT 2025 title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets. After the win, there was massive celebrations all across the country.
It was the second time Rohit led the side to an ICC title. He was the captain of the side when they won the T20 WC a few months back.
