Rohit Sharma's Impact In White-ball Decoded
He hasn’t really managed a big score in the Champions Trophy 2025. But his quickfire started helping Team India set the stage for most of the games. Former Indian wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta has decoded Rohit’s impact in white-ball games.
In an interaction with Star Sports, he echoed Gautam Gambhir , citing the Indian captain’s impact has shown the way for the rest of the team.
"Change the mindset of how kids in India, the next generation will play white-ball cricket and how we, as viewers, kind of consume ODI cricket or 20-over cricket and the effect of impact. We've stopped talking about sheer numbers nowadays. If you look at it, we talk about impact now and how impactful an innings was and that's what I think Rohit has done as a leader, as a batter, showing the way to the rest of the guys, and he's been absolutely phenomenal.”
India Aim To Break New Zealand Hoodoo
Coming to the match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first in Dubai. The BlackCaps openers did manage to get a good start but quickfire wickets from Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav handed India the command.
The Men In Blue have had a very poor record against the Kiwis in ICC finals having lost on both occasions. India won the last two matches against the BlackCaps and the onus will be on the Men In Blue to get it right this time around.
