But now the question arises, who actually is Jeffrey Vandersay and what makes him so special? The leggie was born in Wattala, a large suburb of Colombo city and has always been a spinner before he even knew it. Vandersay has a lot of variations up his sleeve with deliveries like top-spinner, googly and slider being the biggest weapons in his armoury.

Vandersay And His Struggles

Vandersay first came into the scene when he ended up taking 8 wickets in a three-day game against Pakistan. This pathbreaking performance helped him make his international debut for Sri Lanka. Many may believe that Vandersay is a fresh kid off the block, but he made his debut for Lanka back in 2015 in a T20I home series against Pakistan. The Sri Lankan spinner also put in decent performances in the 2016 T20 World Cup. He was a replacement for Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga.

Many Sri Lankan experts were on the same page and believed that Vandersay should have played in Test matches before T20Is. Vandersay too couldn't make a mark for himself in the international circuit and hence had to wait for his turn.
