Injury Concerns For United Ahead Of Manchester Derby, Ruben Amorim Confirms Unavailability of Three Players Prior To City Clash
Manchester United will lock horns with Manchester City in the ongoing 2025/26 edition of the Premier League. Prior to the highly-anticipated clash, Ruben Amorim confirmed the unavailability of three United players
As the international break comes to an end, the Etihad has braced itself to host the 197th Manchester Derby. The much-awaited clash will also give both the teams bragging rights over each other. Interestingly, both City and United have had contrasting outcomes so far in the ongoing Premier League 2025/26 season. As per the current standings, City and United both are out of the top 10 standings. Manchester City are currently in the 11th spot, whereas United are in the 16th place.
Manchester City have problems of their own. The 1995/96 season under Alan Ball was the last time when City lost three of their first four games, and it resulted in their campaign ending in relegation.
Manchester United, on the other hand, won their previous game against Burnley. A last-minute penalty by Bruno Fernandes saved the Red Devils from a heartbreaking defeat at the Old Trafford Stadium; however, their problem of holding on to a lead still remains under the scanner.
Injury Concerns For Manchester United
The Red Devils have unfortunately sustained a few injury concerns ahead of the big day. Just like City, United are also in dire need of securing two valuable points, but they will be without the services of their three star players.
"Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot are all unavailable for the Etihad Stadium encounter. Cunha and Mount were hurt during our last outing, the 3-2 home win over Burnley at Old Trafford, while Dalot complained of muscle pain and pulled out of Portugal's squad for their World Cup qualifiers," said the club in a statement.
Ruben Amorim Gives Blunt Take On United's Injury Concerns
The Manchester United boss said that the club needs the services of Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot to be a competitive club, but he doesn't know how long it will take for them to recover. Amorim also said that Altay Bayindir will be available to play.
