'Different Level Than Other Players': Lionel Messi Stars Again For Inter Miami, Helps Defeat Sporting KC 3-1 In Champions Cup

It was another Lionel Messi masterclass as the Argentine played a vital role in Inter Miami's 3-1 win over Sporting KC to advance to the next round of the Champions Cup. This comes in after Lionel Messi was recently fined by the MLS for his altercation with an assistant coach belonging to New York City FC. In the first round match of the Champions Cup, Inter Miami played a total of two legs against Sporting KC. The first leg was also won by Inter Miami by a score of 1-0. Following this, Inter Miami got a 3-1 win the second leg which took their aggregate score to 4-1. 

Lionel Messi Stars In 3-1 Win Over Sporting KC 

Lionel Messi starred for Inter Miami once again as he opened the scoring in the second leg match against Sporting KC. Lionel Messi found the back of the net for Inter Miami in the 19th minute to get Inter Miami an early lead. Following Messi's goal, Inter Miami continued to pile on more goals against Sporting KC.

In the 45th minute, Tadeo Allende, doubled Inter Miami's lead and two minutes later the scoreline was turned to 3-0 as Luis Suarez also found the back of the net for Inter Miami. Sporting KC's Memo Rodriguez got a goal to his name in the 63rd minute but it was of no use as Inter Miami got away with the win. 

High Praise For Messi-Suarez From Sporting KC Coach 

Following Inter Miami's 3-1 win, Sporting KC's coach Peter Vermes had high praise for the two ex-Barcelona stars.

“There is this level of quality that guys like Messi, Suarez bring. They know the moments in the game. They just know them. They operate at such a different level than other players, and they’ve done it at all leagues and levels. If you let them get ahead of you, the game can open up because with one chance they can break you,” said Sporting KC coach Peter Vermes. 

With the victory against Sporting KC, Inter Miami are through to the round of 16 of the Champions Cup. They will face Cavalier FC in the round of 16 stage of the tournament.
