Arshad Doubles Down On Kalki 2898 AD Criticism, Calls Prabhas 'Brilliant': When We Give Bad Role...

Arshad Warsi faced a lot of criticism online for his comments on Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD. The pan-India film starring Prabhas , Deepika Padukone , Amitabh Bachchan was a smash hit and collected over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. However, on a podcast, Arshad named it amongst one of the films that he did not like. Moreover, his remark, "Prabhas looked like a joker" in the movie, did not sit well with the Telugu star's fans and many in Tollywood.

Appearing at IIFA 2024, Arshad clarified his stance in the matter for the first time and called Prabhas a "brilliant actor", but seemingly did not change his views about Kalki 2898 AD.

Prabhas has proved himself time and again: Arshad  

Last month in a podcast, the Munna Bhai star was asked to name the last bad film he watched and he said it was Kalki 2898 AD, 3D sci-fi spectacle directed by Nag Ashwin and starring actor Prabhas . Arshad talked to the media about the backlash following his comment and also called Prabhas a "brilliant actor".

He said, "Everybody has their own point of view and people like to interpret noise. I spoke about the character, not the person. He ( Prabhas ) is a brilliant actor and he has proved himself again and again, and we know about it. And, when we give a bad character to a good actor, it's heartbreaking for the audience."

Arshad faces heat for his comments

Last month, Arshad's comments snowballed into a controversy, with many Tollywood celebrities also jumping into the matter suggesting he should have chosen his words wisely, Notably, Dasara star Nani said that Arshad got the most publicity in his career when he commented on Prabhas . However, after backlash, Nani backtracked on his comments and praised the Asur actor.

Dil Raju, Sudheer Babu and Ajay Bhupathi also slammed Arshad for his comments on the Baahubali actor. Nag Ashwin called for truce later by saying that he would send Arshad's family Bujji toys and strive to make Kalki 2898 AD sequel bigger and better than the first part.
