Not Rajkummar Rao, THIS Actor Was The First Choice For The Shraddha Kapoor Starrer Stree
In an interview, Vicky Kaushal revealed that not Rajkummar Rao but he was the first choice for the horror-comedy movie Stree also starring Shraddha Kapoor.
Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer horror-comedy Stree 2 is creating a storm at the box office. The horror-comedy movie is a sequel to the 2018 film with the lead actors reprising their roles. With ₹401.55 crore at the domestic box office, the movie is the highest Bollywood grosser of the year, as yet. Recently, Vicky Kaushal revealed in connection to the first instalment of the film.
Vicky Kaushal was the first choice for Stree
In an interaction with Vogue BFFs, when Vicky Kaushal was asked about the film he regretted about losing out, he said, “Stree, that was because I was doing Manmarziyaan.” The actor featured in the film alongside Taapsee Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan. While he was praised for Manmarziyaan (2018), the film couldn’t perform well at the box office.
When Vicky recalled his struggles
Previously, Vicky Kaushal recalled how there was a time when he was not even getting a 15-second ad film. Talking about his 12-year-long journey, Vicky, who won the National Award for Uri: The Surgical Strike, said that he feels he is in a “dream sequence”. “It feels surreal and magical. It feels like I am still in a dream sequence and I don’t want to wake up. It really feels like that because when I had started and the audition pictures that I had put, I was just wanting a chance”.
Stree 2 box office collection
Helmed by Amar Kaushik, the movie raked ₹42.4 crore on the second Sunday, showing 28.48 per cent growth from Saturday. Adding the 11-day collection to the total, the India net stands at ₹384.55 crore, according to Sacnilk. Stree 2 had an overall 63.69 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday with the maximum reported in Lucknow (80 per cent). This is Shraddha and Rajkummar's first movie to earn ₹384.55 crore in just 11 days.
What’s next for Vicky Kaushal?
Vicky is gearing up for the release of Chhaava, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna. Helmed by Laxman Utekar, the movie is scheduled to release on December 6. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta in key roles. Vicky portrays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the courageous son of the renowned Maratha warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
He also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. The film will also star Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
