Diljit Dosanjh and Karan Aujla India Tour: The Do You Know singer has become a hot topic in India and abroad especially since he announced his India and UK tour. The popular concert tour which began in Canada following the US with massive record-breaking success, is now gearing up for its debut in India, with a show in New Delhi on October 26. Meanwhile, another Punjabi singer Karan Aujla has also announced his first-ever India tour - It Was All A Dream - starting in December with already sold-out shows.
While fans eagerly await the concerts, controversy surrounds Diljit’s upcoming tour due to steep ticket prices, reaching ₹25,000 in some Indian cities. Interestingly, Karan Aujla's tour tickets are priced even higher, up to ₹50,000, but have flown under the radar.
Diljit Dosanjh vs Karan Aujla India concert prices
In early September, Amar Singh Chamkila star Diljit Dosanjh announced the dates for the Indian leg of his Dil-Luminati Tour, which will kick off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 26 and travel to 10 major cities across the country.
Tickets were released on September 10 and 12, and the show sold over 2.5 lakh tickets, which is also the highest ever by an Indian artist. On September 10, prices ranged from ₹1,499 to ₹19,999, but within two minutes of going online, prices began to fluctuate. By September 12, Gold (Phase 3) tickets were priced at ₹12,999 and Fan Pit tickets at ₹20,000.
Diljit fans and influencers took to social media to express disappointment and outrage over unavailable and overpriced tickets. Although tickets were officially sold out, they remained available on the market. Tickets were being resold in the black market at highly inflated prices. According to social media users, some tickets originally priced at ₹12,999 were resold for ₹40,000, while unverified sites sold them for over ₹1 lakh.
The Delhi Police soon shared a creative warning on their page. For the unversed, the Good Newwz actor reportedly has a net worth of ₹172 crore. His primary sources of income are from acting and live shows, supplemented by smart financial ventures.
On the other hand, for the upcoming concerts of another popular Punjabi artist Karan Aujla in December, tickets were priced in the range of ₹3000 to ₹50000 which is comparatively higher than Diljit’s. Karan's concert tickets have also sold out completely. For Fanpit tickets, prices range from ₹14,999 to 19,999 and go above in India.
Following the hit film song Tauba Tauba from Bad Newz, Karan Aujla's It Was All A Dream World Tour will visit Chandigarh (Dec 7), Bengaluru (Dec 13), New Delhi (Dec 15), and Mumbai (Dec 21). The tour also stops in the UK (September) and New Zealand (October).
As per reports, Karan Aujla's net worth in 2023 was ₹100 crore, boosted only by live performances, record labels, and luxury assets, increasing by over ₹8 crore in a year. Notably, his tour faced no significant issues like Diljit's.
Diljit Dosanjh Dil-Luminati Tour controversy
As per the latest update on the tour controversy, a Delhi law student sent a legal notice to the Lover singer, accusing him, the concert organisers, and official partners of profiting from unsuspecting fans who join a digital queue to purchase tickets for the Dil-Luminati tour. In response, the Delhi police have advised people to remain vigilant and avoid becoming victims of online scams, urging, "Be cautious about online fraud and protect yourself."
The student has also requested clarification on the ticket-selling process, specifically regarding the number of tickets allocated during pre-sale and general sales.
