Jayam Ravi-Aarti Divorce Row: On September 9, Jayam Ravi took to his social media account to share the news of his separation from his wife Aarti, 15 years after their marriage. The news came as a shock to the fans of the PS 2 actor. Recently, Aarti Ravi broke her silence after her initial statement on divorce. Aarti’s statement came after Jayam disclosed a few details about his troubled relationship with his estranged wife.

Aarti Ravi: My words were misinterpreted

Aarti Ravi has released a statement clarifying after her initially issuing a post-divorce statement on Instagram. She wrote, “When they go low, we go high.” She also shared that she’s putting out the statement due to the recent commentary on her personal life, from Jayam Ravi's end. “In light of the ongoing public commentary surrounding my personal life, I find it important to emphasise that my silence is not a sign of weakness or guilt. I’ve chosen to stay dignified and not respond to those trying to portray me in bad light to conceal the truth, but I trust the legal system to bring justice.”

She further wrote, “To be clear, my previous statement referred to the public announcement that was claimed to have been issued through mutual consent. I maintain that this came as a shock and was not a reference to the unilateral divorce that is underway. It’s unfortunate that my words were misinterpreted.” 

She concluded her note with, “I deeply respect the sanctity of marriage and won’t engage in public discussions that hurt anyone’s reputation. My focus is on our family’s well-being, and I trust God’s grace for guidance.”

What details did Jayam reveal about his relationship?

In an interview with Filmibeat, Jayam Ravi shared that he has faced a lot of disrespect from his estranged wife Aarti and her family. He also pointed out that despite having a flourishing career, he did not have a separate bank account and his wife had control over his finances. He stated that he did not have any control over his expenses and had to defer to his ex-wife regarding matters related to money.

The situation was aggravated further when Jayam Ravi's mother-in-law, who produced some of his films remarked them as it for losers, despite performing well at the box office. He also shared that the maids were treated much better in than him.

Recently, Jayam Ravi moved to Mumbai after the announcement of divorce and the allegations that followed. Jayam Ravi and Aarti got married in 2009. The estranged couple share two sons Aarav and Aryan. For the unversed, Aarti is the daughter of noted television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar.
