BJP releases a list of star campaigners for the second phase of J&K assembly elections. The list includes the names of PM Narendra Modi, Union Ministers JP Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, among other leaders.

 In a major step in the probe into the 2023 attack at the Indian High Commission in London, the NIA on Thursday charge-sheeted a key accused in the incident, an official statement said.

The charge sheet was filed in a special NIA court in Delhi.

Inderpal Singh Gaba, a UK national residing in Hounslow and originally hailing from New Delhi, was charge-sheeted as one of the agitators who actively participated in the anti-India protest on March 22, 2023, in front of the Indian High Commission in London, as part of the Khalistani secessionist agenda, it said.

The accused was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on April 25 after exhaustive investigations that established his role in the secessionist activity.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has appointed contractors for nine infrastructure projects worth Rs 12,500 crore in and around Mumbai, including the extension of the Eastern Freeway up to Thane.

In a release on Thursday, MMRDA said that the executive committee of the urban planning body chaired by Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Sainik approved these projects "to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity".

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had a "preconceived" plan to privatise liquor business in the national capital and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) benefited from illicit funds it raised through the excise policy "scam", the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged before a special court here.

The CBI made the allegations before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja in its supplementary charge sheet filed against Kejriwal in the case recently.

The court took cognisance of the charge sheet against Kejriwal, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak and others on September 3.

According to sources, the CBI alleged that Kejriwal, who was the overall in-charge of the party as its national convenor, was behind the criminal conspiracy to generate illicit funds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday left for home after concluding his two-nation visit to Brunei and Singapore during which he held wide-ranging discussions with the top leadership of both countries to build upon the historic ties, strengthen the partnership and attract investment from the two Southeast Asian nations.

"A successful visit concludes! PM @narendramodi emplanes for New Delhi after an outcome oriented visit to Singapore," the Ministry of External Affairs posted on X.

Taking to X, Modi said his visit to Singapore has been a "very fruitful one".

"It will certainly add vigour to bilateral ties and benefit the people of our nations. I thank the government and people of Singapore for their warmth," he said.

Modi was in the city-state at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong.

During his two-day visit, India and Singapore elevated their bilateral ties to a "comprehensive strategic partnership" and signed four MoUs, including on cooperation in semiconductors.

 Moderate rains were witnessed in few parts of the state since Wednesday evening forcing closure of 70 roads for vehicular traffic in Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Thursday.

The highest number of 29 roads are closed in Shimla, 18 in Mandi, 10 in Kangra, eight in Sirmaur, two in Kullu and one each in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur and Una districts, according to the data shared by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

National Highway 5 (the Hindustan-Tibet road) is blocked near Negulsari in Kinnaur district. As many as 13 power and one water supply scheme are also disrupted in the state, the SEOC said.

Lt Governor VK Saxena has approved the creation of more than 3,200 posts in the Delhi prisons department and directed that they be filled within six months, Raj Niwas officials said on Thursday.

The 3,247 posts include superintendent, deputy superintendent, assistant superintendent, head warder, head matron, warder, section officer, accounts officer, assistants and drivers, they said.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the stand of the CBI on the bail pleas of jailed co-owners of the Old Rajinder Nagar coaching centre basement, where three civil services aspirants died after drowning in July. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma issued notice to the agency on the bail applications of the co-owners of the basement -- Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh and Sarbjit Singh -- and asked it to file its reply.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told the Supreme Court on Thursday that the CBI did not arrest him for nearly two years in the alleged excise policy scam and an 'insurance arrest' was made on June 26 after he got bail in the "harsher" money laundering case filed by the ED. A 31-year-old doctor was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting minor girls at a hostel affiliated with a government-aided school in Trichy in Tamil Nadu. Six people were killed in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district when a car rammed into two motorcycles, police said on Thursday. The accident occurred on Wednesday night on the Suratgarh-Anupgarh state highway when the victims were returning after attending a religious programme. "Six people have been killed in the accident. Three died on the spot while three others died while on way to hospital," Bijai Nagar police station in-charge Govind Ram said.

Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested along the Indo-Nepal border area here for allegedly trying to cross over to India without visa papers, a senior official said on Thursday. A man was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked with a machete by two persons in Pune city of Maharashtra, police said. The incident took place on Wednesday in Kirkatwadi area on Sinhagad Road on Wednesday morning, following which the accused duo, including a minor, was detained by the police, they said.
