Netizens had a meme-fest as they responded to the hashtag Dhoni retires that started trending on social media out of nowhere on Tuesday morning. MS Dhoni's retirement from international cricket has been in speculation ever since India's exit from the World Cup. The buzz about the former skipper's retirement seems to be increasing with every passing month, with MS Dhoni himself not revealing any plans for his future. MS Dhoni, who had recused himself from India's tour of West Indies earlier in August, has made himself unavailable until the end of November. Despite the selectors, skipper Virat Kohli, coach Ravi Shastri and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly assuring that MS Dhoni will be allowed to take the call on his retirement whenever he wants to, the speculation on social media refuses to die down.

Responding to the hashtag Dhoni retires, netizens took to run a meme-gala on Twitter, posting rib-tickling responses in the form of memes and GIFs to counter the rumours. Some netizens even trended a counter-hashtag that read 'Never retire MS Dhoni'. With no official word from the man himself, the future of the World Cup-winning captain remains a mystery for fans.

Ravi Shastri makes huge statement on MS Dhoni's future

Speaking to a media source, Ravi Shastri thundered at the people wanting MS Dhoni to retire and said that 'people who couldn't tie their shoelaces' were talking about MS Dhoni's retirement. Backing the former skipper and World Cup-winning captain, Ravi Shastri reportedly said that everyone including MS Dhoni himself knew that he would be retiring soon and hence making statements against him was disrespectful. Ravi Shastri went on to elaborate that MS Dhoni had played for India for 15 years and hence he knew what to do and when to go. Citing the example of the former skipper's retirement from Tests, Ravi Shastri reportedly said that he had voluntarily handed over the gloves to Wriddhiman Saha as he believed in him and that MS Dhoni was always willing to lend his views to the team, sharing his experience and knowledge. Ravi Shastri also pointed out how MS Dhoni had motivated Shahbaz Nadeem as the spinner made his Test debut in Ranchi recently.
