T10 League: Team Abu Dhabi launched with Moeen Ali as icon player

T10 League: Team Abu Dhabi will be the eighth team & Moeen Ali will be their icon player. Ex-England coach Trevor Bayliss will be the head coach of the side.

The third season of the Abu Dhabi T10 is al set to kick-off on November 14 and will last till November 24. This edition of the league will be bigger than the previous two editions. The league is divided into two groups. Group A has the Deccan Gladiators, the Karnataka Tuskers, Bangla Tigers and the Delhi Bulls, while Group B consists of Northern Warriors, Maratha Arabians, new team Lahore Qalandars and Team Abu Dhabi.

Team Abu Dhabi has recently been launched in the capital city of the UAE as the eighth team of the league and England allrounder Moeen Ali has been named as their icon player. Former England coach Trevor Bayliss was announced as the head coach of the team as well. The announcement was made at a colourful function for the players’ draft of the event on Wednesday evening. Three strong entities namely Abu Dhabi Tourism, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Cricket have come together to give a new home to the T10 League in its third edition and it will be known as Abu Dhabi T10 consequently.

All the teams can retain a maximum of five players. Maratha Arabians named former England coach & Zimbabwe stalwart Andy Flower as the new head coach of the franchise. Flower comes after finishing a 12-year stint with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for which he was seen in various roles.

Many of the top-name stars of international cricket have already announced their participation in the Abu Dhabi T10 and stressed the importance of the tournament in spreading the popularity of the game. The fans can catch all the action live in India on Sony ESPN while Reliance Jio has acquired the exclusive digital streaming rights.
