Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are all set to kickstart IPL 2025 on March 22. The defending champions of the IPL crown will lock horns with Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar's side in the iconic Eden Gardens. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to introduce a few sets of new rules in the upcoming eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League.
One of the major changes that the BCCI has made is revoking the usage of saliva on the ball. The decision-making process has always been questioned in the Indian Premier League. There is always a conflict between players and officials despite technological advancements being used in the games. The BCCI has now decided to introduce a new innovative measure to refine the decision-making process in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has always been trying its level best to improve on-field decision-making. The BCCI is now stepping up its game in order to judge no balls and wide balls, deliveries that become extremely crucial when a match turns out to be a cliffhanger. The rules in the IPL allow a bowler to deliver two bouncers in an over, with the third being adjudged as a wide. The BCCI will reportedly try a new method to judge waist-high full tosses.
As per a report in the TOI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now take measurements from a batsman's waist, to shoulder, to the head as well. The report further states that the data will be fed into a system and will be used by the Hawk-Eye operators who sit with the match officials.
Ajinkya Rahane-led Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Rajat Patidar's Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 opener. Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions of the IPL crown.
