One of Team India's biggest challenges is yet to come when they will face Australia while down under for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The Men in Blue are attempting to keep their best red-ball players available for the stoic encounter. But Australia skipper Pat Cummins is seeking to tame their opposition's best players, and he sees the need for his team to make a plan to keep them at bay.

Pat Cummins Assesses Australia’s Biggest Challenge, Wants to Tame Him Down

During an appearance on the Star Sports Press Room, Australia skipper Pat Cummins expressed that the hosts needed to find a way to keep Team India's Jasprit Bumrah at bay. The Indian Cricket Team's pace spearhead has a lethal delivery spell which has become a fearful factor in the opposition's minds. Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Cummins wants to figure out a game plan to keep Bumrah quiet in the high-octane red-ball series in order to win it all.

"I'm a big fan of Bumrah. I think he's a fantastic bowler. Hopefully, if we can keep him quiet, that is going to go a long way to winning the series.

"Alongside him, he has got some other guys who haven't played a lot over here in Australia (that) we haven't seen a lot of. We'll see how it goes," he added.

The upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is expected to be an electrifying affair when the two test cricket titans collide in the iconic Test series while down under. But Cummins will feel the lack of Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been a pivotal part of the Men in Blue when they faced Australia in classic BGT encounters.

"It was always great playing (against) Pujara. He was one of those guys who never really felt like he was getting away from you. But then he would (just) bat, bat, bat and bat.

"I really enjoyed the contest against him. Some days he won, other days I won. It's going to have a bit of a different feel without him. Pujara is a great player. (I) had lots of battles against him over the years. I quite enjoyed them, to be honest. It was real Test cricket," Cummins added.

The Coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy series will begin in Perth as Optus Stadium will host the first match of the series, starting November 22nd, 2024.
