In the opening Test match at Supersport Park in Centurion, South Africa exerted pressure on the Indian top-order, taking four wickets in 30 overs. Team India faced challenges in securing a strong start during the initial session, with South African pacers capitalizing on the favorable overcast conditions. The match witnessed a delayed start of 45 minutes, and after winning the toss, South African skipper Temba Bavuma chose to bowl first.

Amidst the rain delay, the Indian team engaged in an extensive training session, featuring a noteworthy and amusing moment. Indian head coach Rahul Dravid surprised everyone by bowling medium-pace in the pre-toss warm-up, evoking laughter from both players and the crowd at Supersport Park. 

Prior to Dravid's unique bowling stint, Virat Kohli had also taken part in the training session, contributing to the lighthearted atmosphere. Dravid's attempt at medium-pace garnered cheers and smiles from onlookers, including Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Subsequently, Dravid was seen in discussion with captain Rohit Sharma and the support staff.

This Test series marks Rahul Dravid's first since being re-appointed as the head coach for his second tenure. The decision to retain Dravid and the support staff came after the conclusion of their contracts following the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia at Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Unfortunately, Rohit Sharma (5), Shubman Gill (2), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (17), Shreyas Iyer (31), Virat Kohli (38) have returned to the pavilion. KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin are currently batting in the middle.
