Ishan Kishan Selected For Rest Of India As BCCI Announces Irani Cup Squad To Face Mumbai

BCCI announced the Rest Of India squad for the Irani Cup. The squad will also feature Ishan Kishan who was not given a central contract by BCCI last year.

As the much-awaited Irani Cup approaches, there were several speculations regarding who will play for the Rest Of India squad and who will be in the Mumbai squad. The BCCI just released Rest Of India's squad for the Irani Cup and it featured several names who will be making a return to playing cricket. There were also some changes made to India's squad for the second test against Bangladesh , as Sarfaraz Khan will be joining the Mumbai team in the Irani Cup. Dhurv Jurel and Yash Dayal will also not be a part of India's squad as they will represent the Rest Of India. 

The Irani Cup will also see Ishan Kishan in action.

Rest Of India's Squad For Irani Cup 

The BCCI released the Rest Of India's squad for the Irani Cup. It is as follows- 

Rest of India squad:  Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran (VC), Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (WK)*, Ishan Kishan (WK), Manav Suthar, Saransh Jain, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal*, Ricky Bhui, Shashwat Rawat, Khaleel Ahmed, Rahul Chahar

The BCCI also released a statement regarding several players.

"Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal have been selected in the Rest of India squad and their participation is subject to them not being involved in the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur. The 2nd Test will begin on 27th September.

"Sarfaraz Khan who has been retained in the Team India squad for the 2nd Test, will be released to represent the Mumbai team subject to him not being involved in the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur."

Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane is all set to lead Mumbai against Rest Of India. 

Ishan Kishan To Feature In Irani Cup 

Ishan Kishan was not given a BCCI central contract due to his failure to show up for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy. Ever since he made his return his red-ball performances have been catching a lot of attention. Ishan Kishan represented India C in the Duleep Trophy. This was Kishan's first first-class appearance since 2023. 

Ishan Kishan marked his Duleep Trophy as he smashed a hundred for his team. He is now all set to play in the Irani Cup for the Rest Of India squad as a wicketkeeper batter.
