Harry Kane receives the European Golden Boot for the 2023/24 season

Leading scorer throughout European football leagues, Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich and England star striker, got the Golden Shoe trophy on Tuesday in Munich. Outstanding above all other European players, Kane scored an amazing 36 goals during the previous Bundesliga season. Harry Kane expressed his view on the achievement, Kane said:

“It’s a fantastic feeling. The award is for everyone. Without you, I wouldn’t be standing here today. I feel good and am looking forward to the new season. I feel a new energy. I’m very proud to receive this award'',

Though Harry Kane has not yet taken home a team title in his career, his outstanding record of personal achievements is enhanced by the Golden Shoe honour. Though he had a remarkable individual performance at Bayern Munich, scoring 36 goals in the Bundesliga last season, Kane failed to win a championship, therefore marking Bayern's first trophyless season since 2012.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen awarded Kane the honour at the Munich award event; he commended Kane's attitude and efforts since he joined the team one year ago.

Originally unveiled for the 1967-68 season, the Golden Shoe first identified the best scorer across all European divisions. The award was changed in 1997 to a ranking system giving top-tier league players preference.

With six Golden Shoes, Lionel Messi boasts the record; Cristiano Ronaldo is followed with the second most European Golden Boot, Luis Suarez and Erling Haaland have also received the esteemed accolade.

Bayern Munich began the season with victories over Ulm in the DFB-Pokal and Wolfsburg in the league under the new Vincent Kompany's direction. With an assist, Kane contributed to the exciting 3-2 triumph against Wolfsburg; he is keen to add a goal to his count when Bayern visits Freiburg on Sunday.
