Indonesia sends humanitarian aid to Gaza

Indonesia’s government dispatched its first batch of humanitarian aid bound for Gaza on Saturday. The 51.5-ton aid was sent off directly by President Joko Widodo at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma air base. Widodo said the aid, which included medical equipment, food, blankets, tents and other logistical supplies came from g and civilian sources. "I want to emphasize again that Indonesia will continue to join the struggle of the Palestinian people," Widodo said in remarks at the air base. The aid will be transported by two Hercules aircraft and an Airbus cargo plane to Al-Arish airport in Egypt on Saturday. Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation has long been a strong supporter of Palestinians and the country does not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel.
