At least 4 killed, several injured in stampede

At least four students were killed while several were injured after a stampede-like situation took place during a tech-fest at CUSAT. The accident took place during a music concert by Nikhita Gandhi that was held in the open-air auditorium on the campus. All the injured people have been taken to Kalamassery Medical College. The postmortem of two of the four deceased will be done. The stampede is believed to be triggered by rain that caused the people to rush into the auditorium where the singer Nikhita Gandhi was performing. Around 50 people have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Four people are in critical condition. “Entry to the programme was restricted to pass-holders. But students and others who didn't have passes also rushed into the auditorium." a faculty member said.
