Mahua Moitra Storms Out Of Ethics Committee

The meeting of the Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee witnessed stormy scenes after Opposition members walked out, accusing chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar of putting undignified questions to TMC MP Mahua Moitra who had appeared before the panel to give oral evidence in connection with the cash-for-query allegations leveled against her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote a letter to LS Speaker Om Birla alleging that Moitra received bribes he added that businessman Darshan Hiranandani bribed Moitra to target the Adani Group in parliament. Mahua has urged the committee that she be allowed to cross-examine Hiranandani over his allegations. She pleaded innocence to the allegations leveled against her by the BJP MP. Mahua has also stated that the charges against her were motivated by her former friend advocate Jai Dehadrai.
