Nitish Kumar objectifies educated women

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday made bizarre remarks, almost in graphic detail, underlining the need for girls’ education to check population growth in the state assembly. The comments drew smiles, including from Nitish Kumar’s deputy Tejashwi Yadav seated, behind him, while several women MLAs appeared uncomfortable. In the video, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the fertility rate, earlier at 4.3 per cent, has now dropped to 2.9 per cent according to a report last year. Nitish Kumar’s bizarre remarks on population control in the state drew flak from women legislators. The Chief Minister pointed out that if a girl is matriculate, the fertility rate on an average comes down to two per cent, and if she has completed school education, it further falls to 1.7 per cent nationally.
