Post Diwali air quality plummets

Thick smog covered Delhi-NCR after Diwali celebrations. Visuals from across Delhi showed thick haze covering the roads. AQI across the city was at 'hazardous' levels, with the AQI touching 970 at Pusa and 849 at Anand Vihar after people burst crackers on Diwali night, violating the Supreme Court's ban order.
Key areas in Delhi saw large number of people bursting crackers till early Monday.

As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI of the national capital plummeted to the ‘very poor’ category after the festival of Diwali.
The Air Quality Index is a tool for effective communication of air quality status to people in terms that are easy to understand. There are six AQI categories, namely Good, Satisfactory, moderately polluted, Poor, Very Poor, and Severe.
