'Para Games gave meaning to my life'

Who is Asian Para Games gold medalist Pranav Soorma?
Pranav met with an accident at the age of 16 years that caused a severe spinal cord injury, leaving him paralysed. Pranav's 'do not quit' attitude made him take the best out of his life. He started meditating. Some friends at the hospital introduced Pranav to para sports.

Speaking to Republic Pranav said - 'It's an honour for me. The category that I have played in is the most severe disabled one and overcoming the shortcomings and continuous support from my family & coaches. This is not just my victory, this victory is dedicated to all those who have supported me throughout. I was a very active student in sports but never thought of it as a professional career. I suffer due to a spinal cord injury and got it due to an accident in 2011. Just 3 years back, I got to know that people with disabilities are also given a platform to play and I felt thrilled and alive and inspired whenever I went to the stadium. I felt i can make something great out of this life. The biggest motivation has been playing for my country and bringing glory to my country. This brings more awareness and support to the budding & aspiring athletes. I was pressurized but I feel little pressure brings the best out of you. I didn't let the pressure bring me down, gave it all and today I have the results infront of me. I would really like to thank my family for taking proper care of my diet and my schedules. I believe that in whatever field you are, you need to stay honest with your heart. Just be consistent and don't let the negativity affect you. Just keep on holding and you'll achieve whatever you aspire to. I'm very excited and nervous and I hope it goes well. I really want to thank him as he has worked really hard towards ensuring the sports schemes with possible nutrition and diet. I believe that with great power, comes great responsibility. Next year Is world championship in Kobe & Paris Paralympics. I'll hopefully bring a medal next year. '
