India Aim to break New Zealand jinx

In a highly anticipated showdown, India and New Zealand will lock horns in the pivotal 21st match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 at Dharamsala's Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on Sunday, October 22. Both teams enter the clash unbeaten, having won all four of their previous matches in the tournament. This encounter marks the 10th time that these cricketing giants have faced off in the ODI World Cup. India holds a slight advantage in the head-to-head record against New Zealand, with 58 wins in their 116 ODI clashes, while New Zealand have emerged victorious in 50 matches. Eight matches ended without a result, including a group-stage game in the ODI World Cup in 2019. While India have been more dominant in bilateral ODI series, New Zealand have had the upper hand in ODI World Cup encounters. The Kiwis notably defeated India by 18 runs in the semifinal of the 2019 World Cup and have won five out of the nine encounters between these cricketing powerhouses. India's most recent ODI World Cup victory against New Zealand dates back to 2003 when Zaheer Khan played a pivotal role in securing a seven-wicket win at Centurion.
