Avatar Fire And Ash Box Office Day 1: Film Falls Dramatically Short Of Prequel's Opening Day Collection In India, Dhurandhar Or Negative Reviews To Blame?
Avatar Fire And Ash Box Office Collection: The James Cameron movie has been unable to live up to his its hype in India. Marred by negative reviews and competing with Dhurandhar, the movie registered a relatively low opening.
Avatar: Fire And Ash is the third film in James Cameron's magnum opus franchise that commenced in 2009 with Avatar and was followed by Avatar: The Way Of Water in 2022. Despite the high anticipation and opening to a massive fanfare, the movie failed to live upto the hype at the box office.
Upon release, Avatar: Fire and Ash was met with mostly negative reviews, which propelled cinegoers to skip the early shows of the film. In India, the movie starring Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, also faced a tough competition from the holdover Bollywood film, Dhurandhar. Despite entering its third week of release, the Ranveer Singh starrer has emerged as the first choice of cinegoers.
After registering a record advance booking collection, Avatar: Fire And Ash saw a timid collection at the box office in India on the opening day. As per Sacnilk, at the time of publishing, the science fiction movie amassed a total of ₹18.07 Cr on the first day. The collection is likely to witness a little growth from the late-night shows. The Avatar: Fire And Ash collection is expected to record an uptick in the coming weekend and further during the Christmas holiday.

While decent, the earnings were insipid when compared with the previous movies of the franchise and the other domestic movies currently running in theatres. Avatar: The Way of Water, released in 2022, recorded a much better opening. In India, the movie raked in ₹40 crore on day 1, making it one of the highest Hollywood openers of all time.

Additionally, Avatar: Fire and Ash has also fallen behind the collection of Dhurandhar. On the 15th day of release, Bollywood's espionage thriller has raked in over ₹17 crore domestically.
