Team India batter Shreyas Iyer intends to make a vast splash in the upcoming IPL 2025 season with the Punjab Kings. This time, the cricketer aims to make an enormous influence while batting at the number three position. Iyer also eyes an impressive season with PBKS in IPL 2025, which would enhance his chances to be a part of Team India's T20 set-up. Additionally, Iyer does not feel any pressure from leading PBKS as the skipper and wants to get his hands on the championship gold once again.

Shreyas Iyer Ready To Chase Success In IPL With Punjab Kings

Shreyas Iyer displayed sheer class with his blazing knocks during India's campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy. The Indian batter's crucial knocks helped the Rohit Sharma-led side win the coveted ICC silverware and establish his dominance in ODI cricket. Iyer's success was seen in IPL as well, as he led the Kolkata Knight Riders to a successful title win in the 2024 season. After the CT success, the India superstar intends to replicate the previous season's success with Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 season.

"We already know that IPL is an integral part of Indian cricket. And If I would want to mark myself at some position in T20, it would be number 3. And that's what I'm focusing at. I wouldn't say that we are planning and thinking about what number I will be batting. This time I'm quite clear about that position. And I'm going to be focusing on that number. As long as coach approves of me," Shreyas Iyer said at the season-opening media scrum.

Ricky Ponting Eager to Work Again W/ Shreyas Iyer

Ricky Ponting, Punjab Kings' new head coach, is eager to connect with Shreyas Iyer after working together in the Delhi Capitals. He hails Iyer as an IPL-winning skipper and that has been making his mark in the team as a leader.

"I was desperate to work with Shreyas again. We had a great working relationship at Delhi over a long period of time. He's one of the best players that I've worked with. He's a great human being. He's an IPL-winning captain. You couldn't ask for much more. He's only joined the camp a couple of days ago. So he's starting to make his mark on the team as a captain and as a leader," Ricky Ponting said while being seated alongside Shreyas Iyer.

Punjab Kings will begin their IPL campaign against Gujarat Titans in an away match on March 25, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
