India’s Next Gold: Coaches Say ‘She Is the Next PV Sindhu’, India Find Its New Badminton Superstar?
The 13-year-old Badminton prodigy's charismatic personality and abilities make coach Vimal Kumar optimistic about India's future in the sport.
India's future in the game of badminton has seen a new ray of hope emerge as a new talent is rising to prominence. A 13-year-old girl, who hails from Odisha, has emerged as one of the most promising stars in the game and has been touted as India's next PV Sindhu. Her abilities and skills have earned her a lot of recognition. While the young girl took up the sport when she was in China, she is honing herself in India and has been a strong contender to become the next big thing in the badminton scene in India.

A 13-year-old girl named Tanvi Patri has become a sensation in the Indian badminton scene as she has been winning titles from a young age. The prodigy's captivating temperament and abilities make coach Vimal Kumar feel confident about India's future in the sport.
"She was about eight or nine when she moved to India and joined the academy in 2022. She reminds me of (PV) Sindhu when she was young. The ability to win matches at a young age is a good sign. She has a long way to go, and with her temperament, she has great potential. She is ahead of her age group,” Coach Vimal Kumar stated.

The 13-year-old prodigy is a part of the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, where Coach Vimal is the Director. The Coach is confident that Tanvi's proper development in the game could make her a strong contender in the 2028 or the 2032 Olympics.
"In the last six months, she has won U-17 tournaments and defeated several senior players, including the current national championship finalist, Tanvi Sharma. If she improves her strength and continues to develop, she could be a strong contender for the 2028 or 2032 Olympics," Vimal Kumar said.
Tanvi Patri recently came off a strong outing after she defeated the number two-seeded player of Vietnam, Thi Thu Huyen Nguyen. She routed the Vietnamese in straight sets 22-20, 21-11 in a final that lasted only 34 minutes. She has cemented her dominance at a young age. Given India returned home without a medal in Badminton at Paris Olympics, the emergence of the 13-year-old badminton prodigy offers a ray of hope.
