Champions Trophy 2025: As Team India clinched a remarkable four-wicket win over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 Final in Dubai, the Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books with an elusive all-time captaincy record. Rohit became the first Indian captain to win two ICC titles by staying unbeaten in the tournament. Earlier, in the 2024 T20 World Cup , under Rohit's leadership, the Men in Blue won the prestigious title by beating South Africa in the finals. Now, Team India, led by the 36-year-old, stayed unbeaten throughout the tournament to get their hands on the silverware.

Team India started their campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025 with a six-wicket triumph over Bangladesh . Following that, the Men in Blue went on to beat Pakistan and New Zealand in the group stage. In the semi-final, Rohit's side defeated Australia by 44 runs and made their place in the Final. In the summit clash in Dubai against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma's 76-run knock helped the Men in Blue comfortably chase the target and win the Champions Trophy for the third time.

During the toss, Rohit Sharma also equalled Brian Lara's unwanted record of losing toss for the 12th consecutive time in the ODIs. New Zealand opted to bat after winning the toss against the Men in Blue.

Daryl Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53*) showcased a stunning performance for the Black Caps, propelling them to 251/7 in the first inning. Rachin Ravindra (37) and Glenn Phillips (34) also put up a show earlier in the inning.

In the summit clash, the spinners led the Indian bowling attack, with Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav bagging two wickets each in their respective spells. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

During the run chase, Rohit Sharma (76) and Shubman Gill (31) opened for the Men in Blue and solidified a partnership of 105 runs. In the middle order, Shreyas Iyer (48) and Axar Patel (29) maintained the momentum of the game and pushed the Men in Blue closer to the win. In the ending moments of the game, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja (9) smashed the winning runs to win the Champions Trophy 2025 Final over New Zealand by four wickets.

Michael Bracewell led the Kiwi bowling attack as he bagged two wickets in his 10-over spell at an economy rate of 2.80.

Rohit Sharma was named the 'Player of the Match' following his stupendous knock in the showdown on March 9.
