Bihar CM Nitish apologises for 'sexist' remarks

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar apologised for his remarks objectifying women during a statement made in the state assembly. Kumar has made sexist remarks on how educated women played a role in population control during a debate. The comments caused a massive uproar with the BJP demanding Kumar's resignation for making such a remark. A day later, Nitish Kumar backtracked and issued an apology saying he was taking back his words. He made statements both outside and inside the Bihar assembly saying he was apologising to those hurt by his statement.

"I take back my words and apologise for my remarks," said Nitish, while talking to reporters.

Kumar's statement has taken the focus away from the proposal made by the state government to increase the reservation quota in the state to 75 per cent on the basis of caste census.
