Michael Douglas' Only Interview In India

Renowned Hollywood actor and producer Michael Kirk Douglas, accompanied by the founder of Percept Shailendra Singh spoke exclusively to Republic Digital. Expressing his delight about being in India, Mr Douglas said, “It's just the combination of the energy. The spirit, senses, colours, and the people I find so friendly." On being bestowed with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFI 2023, Mr Douglas said, “I've been making movies for 55 years. It's a lovely realisation that your film travels all across the world.” Speaking to Republic Digital, Douglas also emphasised how digital technology and artificial intelligence have impacted filmmaking. “It's going from celluloid to Digital. Movies are an expensive form of entertainment. But with digital, you can make a movie with your iPhone.” Talking about the 'meaningful' projects that have transformed him, Mr Douglas said that the first movie he ever produced was- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. “I was fortunate to win the Oscar for best film. That started me in a career as a producer, which I never anticipated.” He went on to remark on Bollywood films and said that India makes more movies than any other state. "The movie theatre experience is so alive and India has numerous such theatres. He added that his team is working on a film from India for the world.
