PV Sindhu- Carolina Marin Shown Yellow Card

Tempers flared high as long-time on-court rivals PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin came face to face against each other in the semifinals of Denmark Open Super 750. The two have been formidable competitors on the court over the years and have produced classic battles across different tournaments. This time again a healthy back-and-forth transpired, however, tensions rose beyond the jump shots as at one instance in the match the two were involved in a heated exchange. PV Sindhu, who has been enduring a slump in form, has experienced inconsistent results throughout the season. She has had a disappointing Asian Games 2022 as well and the tough phase continues as the two-time Olympic medalist lost to Spaniard Carolina Marin in a three-game contest. It was a fight of equal girth in the first two games, and both players were able to secure a game each. However, in the third game, Marin got the initial lead and was able to dominate to clinch the match. The bottom line read the score of 18-21, 21-19, 7-21 in favour of Marin.

In the final game, when the score was 9-2, ace shuttlers had a moment of animosity, which was triggered by Carolina Marin's attempt to pace things up, not giving Sindhu enough time to get ready for the next point. The argument prevailed when Marin tried to drag the shuttle from Sindhu's side of the court. Upon noting the quarrel, the referee showed a yellow card to both Sindhu and Marin
