Colombians Observe Ring Of Fire Solar Eclipse

Sky-gazers gathered Saturday in La Tatacoa desert observatory in Colombia to follow the "ring of fire" eclipse. Unlike during a total solar eclipse, the moon doesn't completely cover the sun during a ring of fire eclipse. Many astronomy enthusiasts spent hours in the desert, waiting for the phenomenon outside the observatory. The beauty of the yellow eclipse ring struck Laura Herrera. "Beautiful. I swear it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. That yellow hoop. Best thing in the world.", she said. When the moon lines up between Earth and the sun, it leaves a bright, blazing border. Saturday's eclipse follows a narrow path from Oregon to Texas in the U.S. and then to parts of Central and South America.
