Israel hits rocket launch sites in Lebanon

Israel fired a number of shells at suspected rocket launch positions in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. The shelling came after rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel. Lebanese security officials said six rockets were fired into Israel on Tuesday evening. The officials said it was not immediately clear who fired the rockets from the area of the Lebanese southern village of Qlaileh. The Israeli army also said it struck Hamas naval targets in the Gaza Strip, and claimed the targets were used to “carry out terror attacks on the Israeli coastline.” Hamas has fired thousands of rockets into Israel since Saturday, when its fighters launched an unprecedented attack on the Jewish nation. Israel has retaliated with relentless airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and has vowed to topple the Hamas rulers of the territory.
