Facing Huge Backlash For Filth: Samay Raina Removes All 'India's Got Latent' Videos | Highlights

Amid the ongoing India's Got Latent controversy, the Vishva Hindu Parishad claims that Comedian Samay Raina's shows in Gujarat have been cancelled. The comedian, who is currently in Seattle for his standup comedy shows, was supposed to perform in Gujarat in April 2025. The Vishva Hindu Parishad said tickets for Samay Raina's shows, scheduled in April, were no longer available for sale on BookMyShow. Guwahati Gujarat VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput said Samay had planned four shows in the state, starting from Surat on April 17, followed by a show in Vadodara on April 18. The last two shows were scheduled in Ahmedabad on April 19 and 20.

Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman took a dig at the ongoing controversy around the "India's Got Latent" show. When Vicky Kaushal asked Rahman to describe his music in three emoticons, the celebrated composer said, "The one with the mouth closed". However, he jokingly added, "I think, past week we have seen what all happens when the mouth opens." Vicky Kaushal and others at the event were left laughing uncontrollably at the music maestro's humorous comment. Adding to it Vicky Kaushal commented, "Talk about roasting".

Several social media users claim that the question Ranveer Allahbadia asked was copied. Netizens claimed that the controversial joke had been posted on YouTube by the OG Crew two weeks earlier, where group members Sammy Walsh and Alan Fang laughed over the exact same joke cracked by Allahbadia.

TV actor Aly Goni has come out in support of Samay Raina after he announced that he has deleted all India's Got Latent videos from his YouTube channel. He attacked the trolls for forcing the Comedian to delete his hard work. “They forced Samay to delete all the episodes of latent.. not cool.. that 1 episode should have been deleted that’s it.. He has worked hard to make this show successful.. where everyone was praising him few days back now everyone is against him lol kya yaar,” his post reads.

On the controversy over YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks on a show, Producer Boney Kapoor says, "What he has done is not right. There should be a limitation and self-censorship. Freedom of speech does not mean speaking those things which are not socially accepted. Whatever you want to say, do it in your personal space. You need to be careful and disciplined."

In his statement, Samay Raina mentioned that owing to the backlash, he has deleted the videos of his show from his personal YouTube channel. It stands true because now slightly older videos are reflecting on the top.

Samay Raina may have addressed the ongoing controversy, but his statement nowhere mentions that he is sorry for what happened due to the recent episode of his show India's Got Latent. On noticing the same, netizens have bashed the comedian and said, “Ehsaan kar rahe ho kya delete karke". While many have commented, “Still no apology," a user took out an excerpt from his statement “My objective was to make people laugh” and wrote, “Your objective is to make people laugh by promoting vulgar comedy? If so, please delete your channel. There is a limit to everything and you must be held accountable if you cross that limit.” 

Samay Raina, who is currently in Seattle for his standup comedy, has penned a rather panicked note saying, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle.” He added, “I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time.” Towards the end, he said, "I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."

Amid the ongoing controversy, the Mumbai Police has recorded the statements of four people, including Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani and Ranveer Allahbadia's manager, reports PTI.

On Wednesday, Jigra actress Akansha took to her Instagram Stories to share her views on the ongoing controversy around Ranveer Allahbadia and India's Got Latent. She shared a post which stated that the Maharashtra Police filed a case against Allahbadia, Samay Raina and the other guests who were a part of the recent episode. Along with the image, she wrote, "Guys I think I'm losing my mind.. so marital rape is ok? Any and all rape is ok? Killing us with hazardous air quality is fine. People literally falling into potholes and dying is fine. Pay inequality / bribery/cast system/taxes that are killing the middle class is all MAST! But apne moral standing par koi kaise dhabba dal sakta hai?”

In India's Got Latent, a contestant joked about the vagina. To counter the contestant's remark, Apoorva, also known as ‘Rebel Kid’, said "Kabhi vagina dekhi hain maa se nikalne ke baad, la***e? (Have you ever seen a vagina?)." After hearing the comment, Samay Raina claps and Ranveer Allahbadia finds that question funny as he rolls in laughter.

Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani have said in their statement to the police that India's Got Latent is not scripted. In the show, the judges and the participants are told to talk openly. In the comedy show, hosted by Samay Raina, no payment is made to the judges. However, the judges have the freedom to post the content of the show on their social media. To participate in this show as a spectator, one has to buy tickets. The money that comes from the ticket sales is given to the winner of the show, per Mumbai Police.

On seeing a major uproar, Ranveer was quick to issue an apology. He took to his social media handle and shared a video where he admitted that he shouldn't passed a lewd remark. "My comment wasn’t just inappropriate. It wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I’m gonna use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I’m gonna use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning for whatever happened, I am just here to offer an apology."

B Praak cancelled his appearance at Allahbadia's show BeerBiceps and requested comedians to save India's culture. He bashed the YouTuber for his spirituality podcasts and Sanatan Dharma preaching and said, "You promote Sanatan Dharm, you talk about spirituality, such big names come to your show, and you have such a mentality? I request you all - If we are not able to stop this now, the future of our kids is in danger."

Apoorva Mukhija was called into questioning by Mumbai police on February 12. The social media influencer who was a part of the India's Got Latent panel was at the police station for 3 hours. Details of her statement have been accessed by Republic.  She told the cops, “The show was not scripted. We were not given any money from the show.” She added that the theme of the show was to ‘talk freely’ so there were ‘no barriers' in language.  She admitted that all her reactions were ‘natural’.

A team of Assam Police arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday to investigate the case related to Samay Raina's hosted comedy show, reports ANI. This visit has come after an FIR was filed earlier by the Guwahati Crime Branch against Youtubers and social influencers, namely Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchalani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija for engaging in vulgar discussion on the show.

Nikki Sharma has shared a cryptic post on her Instagram that reads, "Your body starts rejecting certain places, people or things, trust it and listen”. Not just this, the duo has even unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Magicpin, the food delivery app, shared a picture on X with an advertisement that read, "INDIA'S LOST TALENT. Comedy ki limit honi chahiye par discounts ki nahi." The image features a group of animated characters, pictured laughing at the bottom of the advertisement, resembling the judges on Samay Raina's popular and controversial show, 'India's Got Latent. The caption of the post read, "Can we get back the magic in comedy?"

Ever heard the quote "aapda mai avsar"? If not, then this food delivery app can be a perfect example of it.

YouTube channels have suffered a blow due to his remark. YouTube channel BeerBiceps has lost around 50K subscribers, while his personal channel lost 20,000 followers. So in total, he has lost 70K followers on YouTube.

According to Qoruz, an influencer marketing intelligence platform, Allahbadia's Instagram handle @ranveerallahbadia reported a decline of 29K followers in 2 days, while his second Instagram page @beerbiceps witnessed a drop of 43K followers since Monday. In total, he has lost 72K followers on Instagram.

Maharashtra Cyber ​​Cell is investigating India's Got Latent controversy. The officials have stated that they are checking all 18 show episodes. In these 18 episodes, many of the jury members used profanity. Action will also be taken against them. The statements of the audience who came to the show will be recorded as witnesses. Action will be taken against those who used abusive language among those who participated in it. Maharashtra Cyber ​​has written a letter to YouTube, asking it to delete all episodes of this show in which abusive language has been used.

The veteran actor is known for not mincing his words whenever it comes to sharing his opinion on controversies. Speaking of which, he uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where he sharply criticised Ranveer's comment and urged for strict action. In the video, he can be heard saying, "People need to ask, ‘Kya ho gaya hai mere desh ko?'" He further stated, "I have watched this famous YouTuber’s interviews. He has done good work in the past, but now he has gone and spoken about parents and sex. Someone asked me what should be done. I said, ‘You should hold him and beat him. Make him sit on a donkey with his face painted black and make him tour the nation.’”

 

Allahabadis comment caused outrage among the Indian citizens, leading to reactions from various industry bodies, including the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA). AICWA's official statement read, "The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) vehemently condemns the reprehensible and offensive remarks made on the YouTube show India's Got Latent. Such disgraceful content is utterly unacceptable and poses a significant threat to the moral fabric of our society." The association further demanded a complete ban on the show, alongside legal action against those responsible.
 

"We call upon all actors, filmmakers, directors, and technicians to immediately cease any collaboration with individuals involved in this show, including host Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia," AICWA stated.
 

AIB Knockout had attracted widespread criticism for profanity and the use of expletives on a public platform. Makers of India's Got Latent are in a similar row now. The AIB show was uploaded in January 2015 on YouTube and went viral. It was criticised by various sections of society for the use of expletives, leading to an order for a government probe over obscenity disseminated through the internet and eventually the video was taken down from public platforms.

Amid widespread outrage over BeerBiceps' incestuous question on parental Intercourse, the internet has alleged that the comment was not his original. A recent post on X has revealed that the same joke had already been made by another set of comedians on a different YouTube show.

During his appearance at the BeerBiceps podcast, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan spoke about Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent. He said, "I would go for it. I could get cancelled but I feel maybe his show would get affected negatively. Because the more eyeballs you get in that way sometimes when you are doing that humour. He is not scared of all that. I would do it in a skip of a heartbeat, but for the teams I am leading, I'll have to do it when I am not promoting a film. So that there is nobody else caught in the crossfire because there will be a crossfire for sure." 
 

As per sources, Samay Raina's lawyer Gunjan Mangala told the Maharashtra police that the comedian is abroad and will return to India on March 17. Therefore, the social media influencer has sought time from the police. 

Maharashtra cyber had sent summons to many people in relation to the ongoing India's Got Latent controversy. Fresh summons have been issued to Siddhant Chaturvedi, Alias Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Deepak Kalal, Dilin Nair Alias Raftar and Tanmay Bhatt. All the celebrities have been called for questioning today. 
 

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Wednesday slammed YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, who has been facing flak for his crass remarks, and blamed such people for degrading moral values in the name of creative freedom. Khaunte in a post on X said, "The 'likes' of Ranveer Allahbadia are the Rot that's eating into our Social Fabric & degrading the Moral Values of an Entire Generation in the name of Creative Freedom when all they create is Perverted Trash."

Ranveer Allahbadia is no stranger to controversies. The YouTuber has been making headlines for the wrong reasons since 2022. From being trolled for excess PR whitewash to mocking Aamir Khan for his transformation in Dangal, BeerBiceps has seen his fair share of ups and downs.

However, she refused to answer the questions. As per sources, Apoorva was questioned for three hours in the ongoing controversy involving Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina. 
 

As per ANI, “A team of Assam Police has gone to Mumbai to investigate the case related to India's Got Latent after the Guwahati Crime Branch registered FIR against YouTubers and social Influencers, namely Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and others for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion, confirm senior officials of Assam Police.”
 

Speaking at the Youth for Governance 2015 event, Aamir Khan reacted strongly against the then-viral roast video featuring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar. The actor shared, I completely believe in freedom of speech and no issues there. Violence is not always physical, it can be emotional, it can be verbal. Jab aap kisi ko insult karte ho to aap violence perpetuate kar rahe ho. Everybody has the right to air their opinions. In my opinion, it was not funny. I am not a kid that I will laugh listening to abuses. I am way past that age. I scolded both Karan and Arjun, who are my friends, and told them that I do not find it funny at all." He added, “If you want to impress me, try making me laugh without insulting anyone. I will enjoy it then. I am not talking about AIB, but about Arjun, Karan and other actors at the event...I think as a creative person, it is my responsibility to search for the good in people." A video of the same has resurfaced amid India's Got Latent controversy.
 

Social media influencer 'Rebel Kid' Apoorva Mukhija who was a part of the India's Got Latent's latest episode panel arrived at the Khar police station to record her statement in the ongoing controversy. 

Amid the massive outrage against Ranveer Allahbadia on social media, his rumoured girlfriend Nikki Sharma's cryptic post has gone viral. 

 

Singer Mika Singh took to his Instagram account to condemn Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. Likening them to Diljit Dosanjh's recent controversy, he stressed that the rules of behaviour are different for comedians and singers. He said, Mujhe gussa aata hai jab mera show hota hai ya Diljit Dosanjh ka show hota hai ya kisi bhi bade singer ka show hota hai, bohot saare desh ki raksha karne ke liye log aa jaate hai ki tum sharab pe gaana mat jao, public show pe yeh mat karo voh mat karo. Tum log ko yeh gadhe log nazar nahi aate? Tumhara farz nahi banta? Celebrities aur singers ko fat se notice bhej dete ho toh aap in gadhon ko rok nahi sakte? Itni bakwas kar rahe hai, itne time se bakwas kar rahe hai. Jab koi live concert ho raha hai, Diljit Dosanjh ka joh itna bada show kar raha hai. Bharti Singh appeared on one of the episodes of India's Got Latent with her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa and singer Tony Kakkar. The episode also received flak for excessive use of cuss words. When confronted about the same, the comedian told the paparazzi, "Woh show hi aisa hai, but zaroori nahi ki aap show mein jaake wahi bolo jo show ki requirement hai. Aapki marzi—bolo ya na bolo. Samay thodi kehta hai, 'Arey, muh kholo, bolo!' Samay bohot accha ladka hai aur talented bhi hai. Gen-Z ka pasand hai woh. Khud jaoge toh uske fan ho jaoge. Itna accha hai." Veteran actor Raza Murad has reacted to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks on the show India's Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina. Calling it an act that was done for "fame", he said that it has left everyone in "shock". Speaking to ANI, Murad said, "To what extent can one stoop for fame? There are comedians like Johny Lever, the late Raju Srivastav, Kapil Sharma, did they ever use any abusive language? Rather, they are the most famous comedians. You (Ranveer Allahabadia) talk about barging into your parents' bedroom?... The whole country is shocked... “ Targetting the show, he added, “We are also to some extent guilty that we are tolerating such a show in which abusive language is openly used... Thankfully people took notice of it and action was taken against it…”

Maharashtra Cyber Department on Tuesday registered an FIR against YouTube reality show India's Got Latent, which is facing criticism over crude comments made by social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia, a police official said. Summonses were sent to about 30 guests who participated in the show from the first episode till now, he said. According to the official, the Cyber Department has registered the case under relevant sections of the IT Act and sought the removal of all episodes -- total 18 -- of the comedy show. During its probe, the Cyber Department found that participants and others associated with the show, including guests, were seen using "vulgar and obscene" language in the programme. It has shortlisted such people, including judges of the show and guests, he said.

Even though Ranveer Allahbadia apologised for his comments, the Mumbai police have commenced an enquiry into the matter. 5 personnel from the police arrived at the YouTuber's Bayview apartment in Mumbai and questioned the neighbourhood on February 11. The police are also likely to summon Samay Raina at the Khar police station to record his statement.

Several complaints were filed by various government bodies seeking action against Ranveer Allahbadia after his objectionable remarks on India's Got Latent. Consequently, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had sought for the episode and the clips to be removed from the social media platform. Finally, YouTube has reportedly taken action in the matter.

Taking to his Instagram handle, B Praak shared a video in which he can be heard saying, "I was about to go for a podcast on BeerBiceps and we cancelled that because of the kind of pathetic thinking, and the kind of words used on Samay Raina's show." "This is not our Indian culture. What kind of things you are sharing about your parents? Is this comedy? This is not at all comedy. This cannot be stand-up comedy. Teaching people cuss words! I do not understand what generation is this. A Sardarji also comes on the show. Sardarji, you know you are a Sikh, do these things look good? What kind of teachings are you giving? He even puts clips on his Instagram, saying - Yes I abuse, what is the problem with that? Well, we do have a problem with that," he added.

On February 10, a day after clips from India's Got Latent went viral, Ranveer Allahbadia took to his X (formerly Twitter) to issue an apology video. The influencer simply said that the statements he made on the show were ‘not funny or cool’. He also stressed that he meant no disrespect to family and that his podcast is heard by people of all ages, so he should have used his reach better.

As of January 31, BeerBiceps had a subscriber base of 10.5 million. However, following the controversy, the numbers have plummeted to 8.1 million as of February 10. The sharp decline reflects growing public discontent, with several netizens calling for a boycott of the influencer.

Maharastra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis came down heavy on Ranveer Allahabadia's comment on India's Got Latent. Speaking to ANI, the CM said, “Bahot bhaddde tareeke se kuch chezon kokaha gya hai. Jo bilkul galat hai. Freedom of speech sabhi ko hai, lekin humarri freedom wahi samapt ho jaati hai jahan hum kisi aur ke freedom par encorach karte hain. As soon as the latest episode of India's Got Latent was aired, it sparked major controversy regarding the context of the show. Lewd questions, racist remarks, sexual jokes and outrageous objectification sparked major concerns about breaching the limits of freedom of speech. Hours after the social media outrage, the Hindu IT cell filed an official complaint. Taking to their X (formerly Twitter) account, the Hindu IT cell informed that a complaint against Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia has been registered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The complaint was filed by Akshit Singh for ‘promoting obscenity’.

Social media users took to their handles to call for a boycott of Ranveer Allabadia and the show. #BoycottIndia'sGotLatent quickly became the top trend on X (formerly Twitter). Several notable personalities like Neelesh Misra also took to their social media platforms to pen a strong note slamming the show. Ranveer Allahbadia was on the receiving end of most hate online due to his crass questions. However, Samay Raina and other panellists also faced repercussions for celebrating the joke and encouraging it.
