The world often functions in strange ways taking us by surprise and every day we come across a zillion instances that are weird and alien. And now, a mischievous errant African grey parrot named Rocco has jumped on the bandwagon. Rocco has hit international headlines after he was caught placing orders with the help of Amazon’s voice-activated personal assistant Alexa. How did he commit the crime you ask? Well! by befriending Alexa.
According to a foreign daily, it all started when people at the National Animal Welfare Trust sanctuary decided to do something about Rocco, fearing its bad behaviour would upset visitors. That is when a worker named Marion Wischnewski decided to take Rocco in and brought him to his house in Oxfordshire.
Soon, the mischievous parrot managed to “befriend” Alexa and used his species' natural ability to mimic voices to place orders on Amazon with his “friend's” help. However, the purchases weren't successful.
“I have to check the shopping list when I come in from work and cancel all the items he’s ordered,” Wischnewski said.
But don't be fooled into believing that Rocco is just an innocent bird who doesn't know what it's doing. Ordering things is not the only thing that Rocco has learned. Apart from figuring out how to order goodies on Amazon, he can also use Alexa to play music, tell him jokes and even makes conversations!
