President of ISKCON, New York Hansarupa Das Adhikari, in an exclusive interview with Republic TV, spoke about an array of things that are important in today's world. On being asked about how scriptures and diplomacy goi together in today's time, the temple President asserted that while it is important to concentrate on spiritual aspect, diplomacy plays a crucial role in today's society. He further said that there is a need for diplomacy and politics because we see ourselves as different individuals and not as one spirit. However, he questioned the need for politics and diplomacy if everyone develop an equal vision.

"We, of course, concentrate more on the spiritual aspect but obviously diplomacy plays an important role in today's modern society. A sage sees with equal vision because he sees the soul within. So if someone has that vision then where is the need for politics and diplomacy. These things only come into play because we see ourselves separate," he added.

Hansarupa Das Adhikari also spoke about the material body and the age of Kalyug in the current times. He also spoke about the age of 'Kalyug' and said that it is an age of quarrel and hypocrisy. He further asserted that no one can agree with anyone on anything in this age because no one knows what our real relationship with God is. The President of ISKCON New York went on to narrate a short anecdote about his teacher at the temple.

"Our teacher one time when we were chanting right outside the UN itself and he remarked that it is called the United Nations but there are so many flags, so how is it united? This is an indication that we are trying to maintain an identity separate from our spiritual self. In the scriptures, we learn and we hear and hopefully we understand that we are not this material body, we are not this external covering. So diplomacy begins that we are all spirit soul," Hansarupa Das said.
