Dharmendra Health Update: Concern Looms Over Veteran Star's Condition As Deol Family Remains Tight-Lipped

Concern swept through Phagwara, Punjab on Tuesday as news broke that legendary actor Dharmendra had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. In temples and gurdwaras across the city, his childhood friends and admirers offered prayers for his recovery.

While the Deol family has been in and out of the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai where Dharmendra is admitted and is receiving treatment, they have remained silent on his health condition. Earlier, Esha Deol and Hema Malini quashed his death rumours. However, they continued to avoid media questions about the veteran star's current state. 

Politician Bina Kak took to her Instagram handle on Tuesday to recollect when she first met Dharmendra. “Dharam P ha jee (bhappa jee) that’s what I call him. First met him when I was deputy minister in 1986 in Rajasthan where he was shooting. He had come to meet the them CM late Harideo Joshi jee .. what a man he shook hand with me मेरा तो हाथ उनके बड़े हाथ में गुम ही गया!! (My hand was lost in his huge hand)," she wrote.

Veteran actor Dharmendra has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in "critical condition", news agency IANS reported, quoting hospital sources. He is on a ventilator and under constant medical supervision, with doctors closely monitoring his treatment, the source further shared. This comes after Sunny Deol's team denied that the veteran Bollywood star was on ventilator support. 

Hina Khan was questioned by the paparazzi about Dharmendra's health, to which she replied, "Dharmendra ji kya? Ek dum swasth, change aur fit hai. Bilkul theek hai," she said. The Deol family meanwhile, has been in and out of the Breach Candy Hospital where the veteran Bollywood star has been admitted and is receiving treatment. 

The 'He-Man of Bollywood' Dharmendra has a cinematic career spanning over six decades. He began his Bollywood career in 1960 and has since featured in more than 300 films. He was last seen in Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which released in February 2024. He will be next seen in Ikkis.

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi joined the list of celebrities who fell prey to false rumours about veteran actor Dharmendra’s death. The actor took to social media to offer his condolences to Dharmendra’s family, only to later delete the post after learning the news was untrue. 

As fake reports of veteran actor Dharmendra’s passing away were doing the rounds, several celebs offered their tribute to the legendary star on social media. The list also included actress Bhagyashree. As Sunny Deol’s team confirmed that Dharmendra is "recovering and responding to the treatment", Bhagyashree criticised the spreading of such fake news. She also apologised for her condolence post.

The Deol family has been in and out of the Breach Candy Hospital where Dharmendra is currently admitted due to health issues. They avoided media bytes even as reporters waited outside the hospital and at their residence in Juhu for an official update about Dharmendra's health.

Dharmendra's son Bobby Deol was seen at the Breach candy Hospital in Mumbai where his father is admitted and currently receiving treatment. However, a distressed Bobby hid his face from the media to supress his emotions. It is said that Bobby has halted the shoot of his upcoming movies to be with his family at this time. 

Hema Malini, Abhay Deol and Esha Deol were snapped leaving the Breach Candy Hospital where Dharmendra is hospitalised and receiving treatment. In images, Malini appeared exhausted and distressed. Earlier in the day, she put out a scathing post quashing all rumours related to Dharmendra's health and informed fans that he was in a stable condition. 

Actress Divya Dutta shared a video of her being stuck in Mumbai traffic. She was listening to Dharmendra’s song Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas while recording her surroundings from the cab. Sharing the video, she wrote, “The spirit of Mumbai. the buzzing city. Traffic jam, with rushing vehicles on one side and the closed road on the other side?? Youngsters playing badminton..a mother embracing her son..”

She added, “And me?? A bit overwhelmed with my thoughts..@aapkadharam song playing on the radio..he and i are from the same town in Punjab..Sahnewal. a bond his movies and he created…he’s woven in our lives..our childhood. The He-Man. Get well soon, Dharamji. You are precious.” 

Veteran actor Prem Chopra, who was hospitalised in Mumbai on the same day as Dharmendra's health became a cause of concern, is set to be discharged after a routine check up. Chopra's son-in-law Vikas Bhalla shared that he has been worried about Dharmendra's health.   

Among the many celebs who visited ailing Dharmendra and his family at the Breach Candy Hospital and the veteran star's residence in Juhu, were Aamir Khan and his partner Gauri Spratt. The latter looked uncomfortable getting clicked by the paparazzi and hung her head whilst being inside her vehicle. 

Sunny Deol has taken a break from his work commitments to attend to his father Dharmendra, who is admitted at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The Gadar 2 star looked emotionally heavy as he left the hospital premises in his car. The media surrounded his vehicle for bytes and health updates related to his father.  

Dharmendra’s net worth in 2025 is estimated to be between ₹335 crore and ₹450 crore. His most valuable asset is his 100-acre farmhouse in Lonavala, reportedly worth around ₹100 crore. The veteran star and his family also plan to expand further into the hospitality business by developing a resort near the Lonavala farmhouse. According to a report in Economic Times from 2015, Dharmendra partnered with a restaurant chain to build a 30-cottage resort on a 12-acre plot close to the property.

After Dharmendra's hospitalisation, the Deol family is facing an emotional period. Hema Malini, Esha Deol and Abhay Deol were snapped leaving the Breach Candy Hospital after spending some tome with the ailing Bollywood star.

Actor and filmmaker Akbar Khan visited Dharmendra's residence in Juhu as the veteran Bollywood star continued to receive treatment at Breach Candy Hospital. Akbar recently lost his sister-in-law Zarine Khan, the wife of Sanjay Khan.

Dharmendra is also a producer. In 1983, he launched his production house Vijayta Films. Under this banner, he introduced his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol to Bollywood with successful debuts in Betaab (1983) and Barsaat (1995) respectively. Dharmendra also "presented" his grandson Karan Deol's debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019). Vijayta Films is now owned and operated by the Deol family.

Actor Dharmendra first ventured into the restaurant business in 2015 by launching the "dhaba" Garam Dharam in New Delhi. In 2022, he opened another eatery named He-Man on the Karnal Highway.

The security at Dharmendra's home in Juhu has been beefed up following his hospitalisation in Mumbai. Rumours were rife early morning on Tuesday (November 11) that the veteran Bollywood star had passed away. However, his family members swiftly dismissed reports speculating on Dharmendra's health. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at his residence and fans and media persons are stationed there.  

Dharmendra's daughter Esha Deol's ex husband Bharat Takhtani was seen leaving the breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after he paid a visit to ailing veteran star. Esha and Bharat married in 2012 and separated in 2024. Bharat is now dating Meghna Lakhani, a Dubai-based entrepreneur.

Amid health concerns, Dharmendra’s Instagram post from last month is going viral. In the short clip posted last month, the veteran actor sat in a golf cart, surrounded by his staff. “Tamaam bhai behno ko, bachche bachiyon ko, Dusshera ki shubhkamnaye. Bhagwan aapko lambi sehat de, khushiyan de, aur ab aap naye ban ke rahe, tab toh tarraki hi tarraki hai," he said with his characteristic warmth as he wished fans on the occasion of Dusshera. 

The Deol family has been in and out of the Breach Candy Hospital since Dharmendra has been hospitalised. Sunny Deol and his son Karan Deol were seen leaving the hospital after they paid the ailing veteran star a visit. 

On the work front, Dharmendra has been doing very less movies in the past few years due to his age. Last year, he featured in a small but delightful role in the rom-com Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya with Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. In 2023, he featured in Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. His upcoming release is Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis. 

The Bollywood star and fitness icon was born in 1935 and made his debut with the film Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere in 1960. He went on to become one of the most successful leading men in Hindi films during his career.

A representative for Dharmendra's son, actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol, denied speculation that the Sholay star had been put on ventilator support.

"Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Kindly don't indulge in spreading false rumours regarding his health. Request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family's right to privacy,” the PR representative said.

Meanwhile, his death rumours have also been circulating online. On X, "Dharmendra" and "Dharam Ji" became top trends as get well soon wishes poured in from all quarters. His family has reassured fans that his health his stable at this moment. 

Dharmendra, the "He-Man of Bollywood", will turn 90 on December 8. Fans across the country are praying for his health as he continues to receive treatment at the Breach candy Hospital in Mumbai. A source told PTI, “Dharamji’s health is not in a great state.” The actor has reportedly been in and out of the hospital in recent days.

Dharmendra, 89, is reportedly on ventilator support at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, with fans and industry peers praying for his recovery. On Tuesday (November 11), his grandson Karan Deol, who is the son of Sunny Deol, was seen at the hospital where the veteran Bollywood star is admitted and receiving treatment. 

At 89, Dharmendra is keeping fit by doing light cardio exercises. In a video shared by the veteran star, he was seen swimming and doing some water borne exercises. He often posts his fitness videos online, inspiring people across generations to stay fit.

Dharmendra will be seen in the upcoming biopic Ikkis, which is inspired by the the life and times of the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal. Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda will be seen essaying the role of Arun Khetarpal in the movie, set to release on December 25. Dharmendra's last Instagram post was about his upcoming film. He shared the film's trailer with the caption, "Woh Ikkis Ka Tha, Ikkis Ka Hi Rahega (sic)."

Shatrughan Sinha reacted strongly to media reports speculating about Dharmendra's health while he remains hospitalised in Mumbai's Breach candy Hospital. “I woke up to these reports and assumed them to be true as they came from reliable portals and publications. To my shock and relief, the reports were untrue. Everyone favourite Dharamji is doing well and will soon be home. Marey unke dushman,” Sinha told Bollywood Hungama. 

On December 8, Dharmendra will turn 90. However, the veteran Bollywood star has been in and out of hospital in Mumbai over the past month due to breathing issues. As his health declined, the Deol family gathered to stand by his side.  

The Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) also issued a statement condemning the false news, calling it “deeply distressing." “It is deeply distressing to see false news being spread about our beloved legend, Dharmendra Ji. Such baseless rumours are not only irresponsible but also deeply insensitive. They cause unnecessary pain to his family, friends, and millions of fans who hold him in the highest regard," the statement read.

Veteran actor Dharmendra’s health sparked concern across social media this week after several outlets falsely reported his death.

Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur at the age of 19, before he began his acting career or joined the film industry. Together, they have four children: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol, and Ajeeta Deol. When Dharmendra joined the film industry, he met Hema Malini on a film set, and they soon fell in love. Dharmendra has been in and out of south Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for several days. It is said that he has been getting frequently checked up due to breathing issues. The veteran actor's wife Hema Malini had, earlier on Monday night, urged people to remain calm and pray for his recovery.

Producer and actor Nikhil Diwedi visited Dharmendra's residence in Juhu as the veteran actor's health remains a cause of worry for his family and fans. The 89-year-old star continues to remain under observation at a Mumbai hospital.

Abhay Deol, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, as well as Dharmendra's daughters, arrived at the Breach Candy Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Several videos of the actor's family members arriving at the hospital have been shared by the paparazzi. This comes amid the recent update of Dharmendra doing well and responding positively to medical treatment.

As per several reports, veteran actor Dharmendra boasts a net worth of around  ₹335– ₹450 crore. Apart from the income from his films, the actor also has a steady flow of wealth from his restaraunt ventures, brand endorsements, property investments and an opulent collection of motor vehicles. 

Dharmendra's nephew and actor Abhay Deol arrived at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital to check up on the veteran actor's health. Previously, he was at the actor's residence in Juhu, taking care of some arrangements. A video of Abhay Deol's car entering the hospital premises has now surfaced on social media. 

Ever since the hospitalisation of Dharmendra surfaced, his daughters Ahana Deol and Vijeta Deol made their first appearance at the Breach Candy Hospital today. A video showed the daughters in front of the hospital premises.

After visiting his ailing father at the Breach Candy Hospital, Bobby Deol arrived at Dharmendra's residence in Juhu. A video of his car entering the premises has now emerged on social media. 

 

The music launch of Dhanush and Kriti Sanon's starrer Tere Ishk Mein was scheduled to take place on the evening of November 11. However, Amazon Music has said in a statement, “In light of the concerning health condition of the legendary Dharmendra ji, we have decided to cancel today’s event." 

Actor Abhay Deol is the son of Dharmendra's younger brother Ajit Singh, making him a veteran actor's nephew. The Dev D fame was spotted arriving at Dharmendra's residence to meet with his family while the actor recovers at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital. 

 

Dharmendra has four children from his first wife, Prakash Kaur. While their sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, pursued acting, their daughters Vijeta and Ajeeta Deol chose to remain away from the camera. His daughter Vijeta is married to Vivek Gill and reportedly works as a director in a private company. She has two children, Prerna and Sahil. The family is settled in the United States of America. 

His other daughter, Ajeta, also lives in the USA. She is married to Dr Kiran Chaudhri and works as a teacher. They have two daughters, Nikita, who is a dentist, and Priyanka.

Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan reunited in the 2023 movie Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaanii, in which they played husband and wife. In December 2024, the actor shared a photo with his good friend Jaya from the set of the film. Sharing the photo he wrote in the caption, “Guddi, will always be my loving doll . She is a world class artist and she always talks high about me . ( From Guddi to Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani) .” 

 

Sunny Deol's team have shared a recent update on Dharmendra's health. The statement reads, "Sir is recovering and responding to treatment, let’s all pray for his good health and long life (with folded hands emoji)." The updates as a big respite for fans of the 89-year-old actor, praying for his speedy recovery. 

 

In a conversation with ANI, veteran actor Dharmendra said, "It has already been mentioned. Yes, I recommended him.. Mai to kehta nahi Maine unko (Amitabh Bachchan) role dilaya..ye mujhe milne aate the Amitabh sahab (He used to come to meet me. Mr Amitabh.) He used to sit next to me. To Maine Ramesh Sippy ji ko kaha yeh naya ladka hai usko awaaz se to lagta hai bahut acha kaam karega...unki jo andar se chahna this..jo khud se pyar karne ki khoobsurati thi vo achi lagi..maine kaha inko lelo (So I told him to take him)." Some reports suggested that Shatrughan Sinha was considered for the role of Jai before Amitabh Bachchan. 
 

In 2023, Dharmendra took on the dance floor and grooved to his popular song Yamla Pagla Deewana at the sangeet ceremony of his grandson Karan Deol. A video of the same went viral on social media. 
 

Dharmendra was last seen in the 2024 film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The movie was headlined by Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, but the veteran actor's performance in the movie was widely praised. 

 

On November 2, Esha Deol took to her Instagram account to share a throwback photo from her childhood, featuring Dharmendra and Hema Malini. Along with the photo, she wrote, “I am because of you . I love you my papa & mamma And A big thank you to all of you for the lovely lovely birthday wishes & blessings love you all 😊💪🏼🙏🏼 stay happy, healthy & strong.” 
 

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, a good friend of Dharmendra and actor Shatrughan Sinha reacted strongly to news about the actor's death. He said, “I woke up to these reports and assumed them to be true as they came from reliable portals and publications. To my shock and relief, the reports were untrue. Everyone's favourite Dharamji is doing well and will soon be home. Marey unke dushman.” 
 

The actor added, “Dharamji doesn’t have a team. So which ‘team’ confirmed his death news? This is all very distasteful.”

Speaking to IANS, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur says, "It is unfortunate that he is in the hospital... I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he returns to good health and joins us all soon. People across the country want him to get well quickly. I am confident that he will recover soon and be discharged from the hospital." 

In April earlier this year, Dharmendra took to his Instagram account to share a brief glimpse from his physiotherapy session. He shared the post with the caption, “Friends, with your good wishes and his blessings, I am working hard to be fit and fine. yoga, exercise and ………………..now physiotherapy . I am grateful to dear Amit kohli my physiotherapist. Love you all, Take care.” Fans and followers of the actor lauded his resilience.

Actor Sunny Deol arrived at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai along with his sons Rajveer and Karan Deol to check up on Dharmendra. 

Despite his ailing health, Dharmendra did not give up on his career and passion for acting. The actor will be seen next in the Sriram Raghavan directorial Ikkis, which is headlined by Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda. The movie will hit the big screens on December 25.

Amid concerns about his health, old interviews of Dharmendra have resurfaced. In a 2018 conversation, the veteran actor was asked which celebrity he would like to play him if his life were ever adapted for the big screen. 
 

Dharmendra shared, “I think Salman Khan can do my role in the biopic. He is a darling and has some habits like me. You all know Salman and his habits well. He has gone on me.” Dharmendra's comment also went viral at the time because the actor did not pick his own sons, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol or nephew Abhay Deol for the role in his biopic, despite them being acclaimed actors.

Security has been increased outside the Breach Candy Hospital to avoid overcrowding and free flow of traffic as industry insiders and family members have been visiting Dharmendra. 

 

Police barricading was put up outside Dharmendra's Juhu residence on Monday evening. This is likely a preventive measure to avoid crowding and congestion outside the premises, as fans have been gathering to take stock of the actor's health.

Comedian Bharti Singh attended an event in Mumbai on Monday evening, when she interacted with the paparazzi about Dharmendra's hospitalisation. She said, “Arey bhagwaan aur hamare dua unke saath hai, kuch nahi hone wala. Bas aap prayer kijiye voh jaldh hi theek ho jaaye (God and our prayers are with him. Nothing is going to happen. You just wish for his speedy recovery).”

Since Monday night, actors and members of the Bollywood fraternity have been spotted at the Breach Candy Hospital. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Govinda and Ameesha Patel are some of the few actors who arrived at the hospital to check up on Dharmendra.
