  • Oreo soon to floor 'hot chicken wing' flavoured cookies in China
  • It has also introduced a Wasabi flavored version of the cookie adding a Japanese touch to the crunchy delight

Oreo cookies continues to be a favourite among sweet-tooths. And now, in a bid to expand their customer base, the company has launched two new savory flavours. Bringing in good news for chicken-lovers the cookie giant will now provide a 'hot chicken wing' flavour. In addition to this flaming new flavour, it has also introduced a Wasabi flavored version of the cookie adding a Japanese touch to the crunchy delight. Mondelēz International, the parent company of Oreo, took to Twitter on August 22 and announced the “innovation sensations”. However, they might not pair well with milk this time. On its Twitter post, the company said, "Innovation sensation: #TeamMDLZ @Oreo just launched two new BIG and BOLD flavors in #China: Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi!"

In the pictures shared by the company, the 'hot chicken wing Oreo' brings a bright orange filling inside of the original chocolate brown cookie, while the wasabi version of the same shows a green coloured filling. While the flavors are certainly “big and bold”, as Mondelēz International referred to them, netizens seemed to be divided on the introduction of the new flavours. While some found it interesting, there were people who found it pointless and compared it to 'pranks'.

Here's how the Twitterati reacted to the post:

Currently, the new flavours will only be available in China as the company has yet not specified if the flavours will be available in other countries.

Green coloured Oreos have long existed as an April Fool's Day special, a DIY substitute for the green tea flavor of the cookies. Also, not many specifications were given out about the 'Hot Chicken Wing' flavour. Whether it will actually have chicken, or just its essence still remains a question.

Moreover, the company has also announced the launch of limited-edition left-handed Oreo cookies in the US for the left-handed people with the flap on the right side of the pack so that they are able to open a pack comfortably.
